RETURN TO ME - THE SABBATH OF RETURN

Sep 26, 2020    Rabbi David Rosenberg

THE PIVITOL SABBATH, "SHABBAT SHUVAH" ALWAYS FALLS BETWEEN ROSH HASHANAH AND YOM KIPPUR IN THE MIDST OF THE TEN DAYS OF AWE. The table has been set for repentance before the hope of atonement and the messianic hope of Messiah. Over thirty one years ago God spoke to my heart as we planned to establish Shuvah Yisrael. The name of our synagogue comes from the theme of this very special Shabbat. Shabbat Shuvah is the Sabbath between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. What do we read? We read in every synagogue the words of Hosea 14:2-10. As we languish through the international quarantine of COVID-19, along with great struggles in many, major cities, a dizzying array of natural and man made disasters all over the world, God calls out to His people, “Return Oh Israel to the Lord your God.” We are compelled by God to make a choice!
