One the most difficult milestones in life is the generation to generation transfer of the covenant relationship with the God of Israel to the next generation. There is no generation in history that was exempt from passing it on. The Torah, the Prophets and the Writings, along with the New Testament are all filled with goodbye stories as one generation fades willingly or unwillingly as they over hand the responsibilities of carrying the covenant in the next generation and beyond.
